Lindsay Houses
A moderately populated city found in the heart of the Kawartha Lakes region of south-eastern Ontario, Canada is where you will find Lindsay. Lindsay, Ontario is surrounded by many of Canada’s great lakes and is especially a great vacation spot for the summer time. Lindsay is located twenty-seven miles from Peterborough, Ontario and the sister city to Navoro, Japan where a small Japanese culture exhibit can be found. The sister city to Lindsay serves as a cultural experience to local students. Every two years students from the area are chosen to travel to Japan for free.
Lindsay is also home to the theatre of Academy arts. So if you’re looking for a romantic getaway this well known spot of Lindsay will have something in store for you. They are also very supportive of their local band “The Physcadelics” who perform regularly within the area.
Starting out as a dam built on the Scugog River by a family in 1827 is apart of Lindsay, Ontario’s history. With just a sawmill and gristmill in the area around the dam you would never think this area could evolve into what it is today. However it did not take long for a settlement to grow up around the mill, Purdy's Mills to be exact.
The extensive amount of people that moved into this area allowed for a surveyor to come this area of Ontario to make a plan for the official streets and lots to be constructed. One of the surveyor’s co-workers was shot in the leg during the survey of this area and died. The man went by the name of Mr. Lindsay and with government approval the town remained to live and grow by not Purdy’s Mills by through remembrance of him as we know it today as Lindsay, Ontario.
Growing astonishingly well over the years, Lindsay has offered a home to a large amount of nationalities. The three most visible minorities that can be found in this area are African American, Asian and Chinese. Lindsay, Ontario is also home to many other nationalities including Arab, Filipino, Korean, Latin American and many others.
Lindsay consists of many educational areas for it’s younger residents including two public high schools and one Catholic high school. The faculty found throughout these schools and school boards are professionals which strive to provide a prevailing future for Lindsay, Ontario’s children. Not only are there three well known high schools in Lindsay, but it is also home to the well known post secondary education institute Flemming College.
This prevailing future for children has attracted families into the Lindsay houses market that Lindsay, Ontario has to offer. The national resale housing market activity in Lindsay has continued climbing in July 2009. The sales in July 2009 reflected the largest year-over-year gain in over two years. It was also Lindsay, Ontario’s first time on record that its sales of Lindsay houses topped 50,000 for the month of July 2009 compared to any other year on record.
